    About the bearings:

    My “fault”. 61805 and 6805have the same dimensions (and price). The 61805 is DIN 125, while the 6805 is JIS B 1521.
    I’ll note the interchangeability of both types in the extended BOM.

    Okay. All corrections done.

    I needed to correct some parts, because my (little) faults had consequences of course and anything has to fit perfect in my virtual Morgan.

    All necessary parts are updated and the assembly instructions as well.

    Any further tips, critics or recommendations are welcome.

    Maybe you are right. I’ll test several concepts and keep the best.

    Today my Morgan has straight pipes. But that’s what I love about RepRap. You can change and improve the machine as required.
    No one or at least only a few would modify their commercial printer. They’d lose the warranty and the firmware of commercial machines is not OpenSource in most cases.

    I confess, that at first I thought the bending of the pipes wasn’t intentional. There was no note on that in the (draft) assembly guide or I missed that point.

    Anyway. If it is a good concept it will make its way.
    I’ll create a branch with the bended pipes in my extended BOM in the RepRapWiki, so anyone has a free choice between both concepts.

    There you will find the dimensions of all parts.

    The longest part is the z-mount-bracket, with 212,5mm, directly followed by the bed-arms with 212mm length.

    Ah. Okay. I didn’t get it first, because that wouldn’t (shouldn’t) matter with my air-bearings. I’d like to avoid direct contact to the axis at all. 😉

    Since all of the weight of the bed is to the one side, you only need weight carrying bearings on one side, and flexible ones on the other side

    Sorry, it’s late. I didn’t get that. What “sides” are you talking about exactly?

    Today is a good day to work on my real Morgan. So I’ll leave the concept at that state and test it with my own printed parts.

    But the aluminum-rails are here already and their were very cheap (1,45€/m).

    Will you tell me, what my concept reminded you of?

    I didn’t find them either.

    I’m using 3mm x 40mm screws for wood (e.g. Spax), which you will find almost anywhere. You just need to drill out the holes in the toolhead and the arm a bit (e.g. to 2.5mm).

    Third z-bracket is published in the extended BOM (with some modifcations).

    Building platform is under construction.

    Okay. I’ll publish it in the extended BOM after finishing my work on the building platform. The rear platform holders, e.g., had to be changed a bit to better match with the front holders and I’m drawing a new base for the building platform (except Quentin tells me why it is better to use the OpenHW-XPlate).

    : You’re right, I’m living in Germany. I’m amazed too, how easy such a project can jump forward by working together around the world the way we (and many others) do.

    For me it’s a political issue and a personal objective.

    But that’s OT over here. 😉

    Your prints look very good. I just can’t wait to begin printing and make my own filament.

    Did I mention, that using an air bearing should not only save metal bearings but metal rods?

    Today I may get another step forward with my Morgan I hope. What I’m planning to do will show up first on my progress-page at the RepRapWiki (http://reprap.org/wiki/User:RobertKuhlmann/RepRap_Morgan#Progress_of_my_own_Morgan).

    @Quentin:
    Your goal to use no support, if possible, is okay. I didn’t pay too much attention to that, because of my goal to use self made filament and use recycled materials. Therefore the size and weight of the printed parts don’t have to be minimized for me, because they will, or at least should, be the inexpensive parts.

    Stability: I think a shorter angle for the ball screw should work as well, while more stable at the same time.

    Of course the needed compressor is a part I’d like to print too. Shouldn’t be too complicated. 😉
