Ideas and comments are welcome. September 1, 2013 at 14:02 #1128 Quentin HarleyKeymaster Looks interesting. Regardless if the air bearings work or not, you may have stumbled on something that I considered some time ago, but forgot about again. Thanks for reminding me! But the aluminum-rails are here already and their were very cheap (1,45€/m). Will you tell me, what my concept reminded you of? September 1, 2013 at 22:40 #1132 Quentin HarleyKeymaster I experimented with using angle bar and teflon sliders – wasn’t very effective, but it could work with bearing wheels. Since all of the weight of the bed is to the one side, you only need weight carrying bearings on one side, and flexible ones on the other side September 1, 2013 at 23:18 #1133 RobertKuhlmannParticipant Since all of the weight of the bed is to the one side, you only need weight carrying bearings on one side, and flexible ones on the other side Sorry, it’s late. I didn’t get that. What “sides” are you talking about exactly? I didn’t get it first, because that wouldn’t (shouldn’t) matter with my air-bearings. I’d like to avoid direct contact to the axis at all. 😉 September 29, 2013 at 19:43 #1371 RobertKuhlmannParticipant This is the heart of the compressor for the air-bearings: The z-axis air-bearings will use two aluminum-profiles per side: Author Posts Viewing 7 reply threads You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
