3D printing Filament is one of the largest concerns determining your running costs. Of course many of the efficient designs are fueled by the extreme cost of filament, but why the extremes?
It seems that there is finally some light in the tunnel. Somehow the good people at Cad-house managed to bring down filament prices by 50% since I last looked!

A step in the right direction, although I still believe that we should work together in finding a cheaper solution. The raw extrusion quality ABS costs only about R6/kg
The prices have gone up a bit again… Seems like they will be R400 a roll…
That’s R400 inclusive of VAT.
We do what we can. At the moment it looks like we are cheaper than most shops globally, and we’re still importing the material. It’s all about volumes. The more the makers use, the cheaper we can make it. Half the cost is freight and duties. I have just placed sn order for 520 kg’s. The previous order was 300 kg andthat is nearly all gone.
