      Hi Quentin,

I am interested in starting my first ever 3D printer build and would like to start with a Morgan.
I want to order the printed parts directly from you, but need some advice on the parts to order.
Which extruder should I choose, the Morgan or the Eckstruder?
Which rod size should I choose 8mm or 12mm?

Sorry for the complete noob questions, but I have no idea where to start.

      Thank you.

The standard Morgan was released with 3mm filament and 8mm rod.

1.75mm filament has become a more viable option in South Africa, because of the choices made by commercial 3D printer manufacturers, and therefore Morgan followed suite with an option to use 1.75mm. I have converted all my machines to the new extruder, and am happy with the performance so far.

12mm rod was added with the advent of the laser cut aluminium platforms. It assumes the use of long 12mm lm12uu bearings, and has good mechanical properties and smoother movement, and the expense of, well, expense.

That said, all of my current machines runs 8mm, and I do get satisfactory results.

      Thanks Quentin,

Then the 1.75mm extruder and 8mm rod size would be the best starting point?

      Thank you

      It is the sensible choice.
