KeymasterI did a lot of thinking around this very subject.

Using one nozzle opening would cause some waste during priming of the new material
Using three apertures in the nozzle could cause some unwanted oozing in the print
Using three nozzles would complicate the math… a lot! Unless you have some servo controlled head that can physically select the printing nozzle – and that adds complication. -

ParticipantI don’t think I have posted enough times to be able to post links. At least I can’t see the link from the first post. If you google the subject line ‘Three extruders and one nozzle’ you should see a blogspot page for richrap that has photos of their setup. I was trying to refer to that directly and not the concept in general. Their final output did not look that bad. Theirs was manually actuated – just a test setup but the concept seemed to work to some extent.

I will relook the multiple aperture nozzle idea. As long as the materials printed have the same temperature, it should be ok on smaller nozzle sizes.

ParticipantThat is very cool and seems do-able. I think that the big problem is that the toolhead is locked to the PSI arm and rotates. It seems to me that if you run 3 PTFE tubes they will get strangled or atleast creating tension.
You could of course modify the PSI arm to make it fit another 6805zz bearing, this so that your modified toolhead can rotate on its own or not at all.
