ParticipantWould you please provide the inner diameter of the 32mm OD PVC pipe?
My Rostock Max printer can print up to 365mm tall so I can print the ~500mm pipes in two pieces.

Participantwhy are the brass pipes used? Is it because they are very smooth and strong? could plastic be used?

ParticipantI used copper pipe from homedespot aka (homedepot)
and then cut to length. The copper is shiny and smooth. It cost I think $16 with tax. You will have left over pipe if you use the current Morgan design dimensions or you can make your Morgan bigger I guess to use the extra pipe. The only thing I can think of is the (longer) you make the pipes, the longer the PVC, threaded rod, lead screw, and smooth rods need to be. To me this means then the system would tend to flex and not be as accurate.
My 2 cents!

KeymasterThe copper pipes are strong, relatively light and has thin walls, in order to allow the shaft within a shaft to function.

ParticipantThe wall thickness is 3.175mm. Is there any reason why the pipes could not be printed in PLA?

ParticipantHere’s a customizable pipe model. The pieces can be pressed together and will maintain inner/outer diameter. They could probably be made water-tight by melting filament on the joints.

KeymasterI don’t think there is a reason why you could not print all of the pipes, except that PVC pipe is reasonably cheap, and quite strong.
When you are done, please show it off!
