Good Night all, for the summer we decided to build a RepRap Morgan. for this we going to use a K8200 for printing in PLA and the laser cut in the Prototype in the university .

As prototype Laboratory of the University is closed for the summer holidays we had to decided to use the laser cut before checking the thickness of the platform (rush and ihope no stupid decition), we decide to use plexiglass 50mm then in someway supplementing between the PVC pipe and the platform for for compensating the difference. we cut the Mk2 platform. we have been wondering if that decision would not affect the tension in the Z axis ? when do you think we should supplement ?

      I left a pic:

      thanks for clear the doubt

      50mm, or 5mm?

5mm should be fine. My first machines used 12mm plywood, and all was fine. 50mm (5cm) sounds a bit thick – but if so, you could still make it work with some workarounds.

Hello Quenting thanks for replying, You are right it is 5mm, for being accurate 5.37 mm so what do you think about it ?is still usable ?

My latest machine has 3mm stainless steel platforms. 5mm Plexi should be ok if you don’t carry it around a lot (plexi can be brittle)
